General overseer of the Anointed Palace Chapel (APC), Rev Isaac Obofour, has advised young people not to succumb to marriage pressure.
He has highlighted a concerning trend where some churches pressure the youth into marriage, even going so far as to arrange matches within the congregation.
Rev. Obofour criticised this practice, warning that the church may not support individuals if they face problems in their marriages.
He stated during a seromn, ‘Don’t be in a hurry to marry; never make such a significant decision lightly. If you mess up the first chance, there’s no guarantee you’ll get a second one.’
Rev. Obofour also cautioned against letting church pressure dictate one’s choice of spouse.
‘Don’t let the church push you into marrying someone just because they’re a church member. If the marriage doesn’t work out, the church won’t be concerned.’
He further warned that while some church members may appear to be ideal partners, they may not always align with the values they profess.
‘Some guys in the
church might seem like perfect husband material, but don’t be fooled. Just because they’re in the church doesn’t mean they’re right for you. The church might teach good values, but you need to ensure the person you’re considering genuinely lives by those values.’
