Essikado-Ketan Constituency gets an Independent parliamentary candidate

Apostle Obed Bosomtwi Sam, has expressed his desire to contest as an independent parliamentary candidate for the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.

His desire to ask for the votes of the people of that constituency is tied to the fact that the country and for that matter the Essikado-Ketan Constituency needed a good, God-fearing leader to transform the current socio-economic challenges facing the area.

Apostle Bosomtwi-Sam, Founder of the Power Divine Prophetic Ministry told the Ghana News Agency that it was about time religious leaders ventured into the governance space as happened in times past in the Bible days to rule and rule well to the benefit of the citizens.

He said: ‘God had over the years used the prophets and Kings to rule the nations which saw much human growth and prosperity and the same must begin to happen in this generation’.

Meanwhile, the Essikado -Ketan seat since it was created out of the Sekondi Constituency in 2004 had been a baby of the NPP with Joe Ghartey representing the constituen
cy, on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for almost 20 years.

‘Despite occupying the seat for that long while, the constituents believed that much could have been achieved in terms of local collaboration for rapid development’.

In the 2020 elections, Joe was given a fierce contest by the NDC’s candidate, he polled 26,701 and the NDC’s candidate, Prof Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah garnered 24,527.

Apostle Bosomtwi-Sam once contested the position of Deputy NDC Communications officer in the area.

He added that standing alone in the parliamentary contest was a move to get more votes, adding ‘It is better for me to stand as an independent candidate than to save my party.’

Apostle Bosomtwi-Sam hoped to improve education, skills training, livelihoods for special children, health care, and youth advancement programmes among others.

He said employment opportunities were crucial for economic stability, adding, ‘ I pledge to support initiatives that create jobs in our communities’.

Apostle Bosomtwi-Sam’s op
en declaration of his bid brings to three those in the race for a parliamentary seat in the Essikado-Ketan Constituency.

The two other contestants are Prof Dr Grace Ayensu Danquah of the NDC and Mr Charles Bissue of the NPP.
