Kenya to Send 15 Judoka to Gaborone and Club Games

Kenya will send 15 judoka to the Africa Youth Games in Botswana this month and a similar number to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland in JulyAugust.

Speaking yesterday secretary general Shadrack Maluki said with the improved performance at last week’s East African competition the team selected intends to continued the recent good form.

“We expect a good performance in the two upcoming championships starting with the Africa Youth Games in Botswana,” he added.

Kenya finished second in the East African championship. The hosts bagged two gold, five silver and two bronze in the men’s category and two gold, two silver and two bronze in the women’s.

Meanwhile Maluki has denied reports that the Zanzibar team had been detained in their hotel due to unpaid hotel bills.

“Kenya Judo Association wishes to clarify the six teams for the competition were accorded full board accommodation and departed on May 2 contrary to reports some media reports.”
