| June 15, 2015

A 28-year-old man has died and two others are in a critical condition at Gumare Primary Hospital after a truck they were travelling in overturned recently.

Station commander for Shakawe police, Superintendent Goitsemodimo Molapisi said the accident occurred when a Nissan Sunny model car collided with the truck that was carrying bricks.

He said the car was coming from Shakawe Senior Secondary School and the suspicion was that it did not stop at a T-junction.

Supt Molapisi said their investigations showed that the driver of the car was under the influence of alcohol as he could not speak or understand what was going on after the accident.

He noted that they had remanded him in custody while investigations were ongoing, adding that passengers, including the deceased were hit by the bricks.

Supt Molapisi said the driver of the truck did not suffer any bad injuries and he was treated at Shakawe clinic. He said this was the first road accident in the village since the beginning of the year.
