Speakers at Bishop Lesole Lesole’s farewell party recently described him as a visionary and principled leader. One of the speakers, Minister of Agriculture, Mr Patrick Ralotsia commended Bishop Lesole for the role he has played in nation building.

He also applauded him for having groomed singers, instrumentalists and pastors during his tenure at the helm of the church. Bishop Lesole was born in Kanye, some 71 years back and rose through the ranks to lead the Pentecostal Holiness Church (PHC) for 33 years without flinching.

The minister said it was critical to have church leaders who could revive the nation’s moral fibre.

He raised a concern that the fabric that kept the nation together, marriage was crumbling at an alarming rate and challenged the church to react.

“I appeal to the church to preach more about marriage in order to save couples who might be going through a rough patch. The sad thing is, children are often hardest hit by divorce than the couple that divorces,” he said.

Bishop Thapelo Murubane from South Africa described Lesole as having fought a good fight and also a master builder who used his skills as a brick layer to touch and change many lives for Christ.

Bishop Lesole explained that he was not retiring from service to God but only handing over the church leadership position to another capable leader.

He said it was very important for a leader to know when it was time to hand over the baton. Meanwhile, Kanye PHC has donated a cheque of P50 000 to the retiring Bishop as a token of appreciation for his service.
