BTCL Partners With Vodafone

| April 2, 2015

Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTCL) has a new agreement with one of the world’s largest telecommunication companies, Vodafone.

Under this non-equity partnership agreement, the two companies will jointly offer business and consumer customers a range of products and services.

Addressing members of the media, BTCL managing director, Mr Paul Taylor said BTCL would benefit from access to Vodafone best practice and would be able to enhance its customer proposition in Botswana with Vodafone’s products.

He said BTCL would also benefit from Vodafone’s scale as the largest international voice carrier, with access to its global data reach and a competitive cost base for its customer international calls.

He noted that the strategic partnership would allow BTCL to better differentiate against competition, delivering innovative communications solutions for the benefit of its customers and visitors to Botswana while Vodafone on the other hand will draw on BTCL’s extensive network coverage.

Mr Taylor said the partnership was a game changing opportunity which would help his company to develop its staff.

He further noted Vodafone became their preferred partner because they were looking at factors such as language, culture and time zone among others while BTCL was also looking for a partner who would optimise their network access. The initial contract duration is three years.

Meanwhile, Vodafone is one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies and provides a range of services including voice, messaging, data and fixed communications.

The UK company has mobile operations in 26 countries, partners with mobile networks in 55 more countries and fixed broadband operations in 17 markets.
