Builders World Renovates Employee’s House

| May 12, 2015

The World Group of Companies, through Builders World Gaborone, has renovated and handed over a house to one of their employees, Ms Mopedi Sekgopi, who has been working for the company for the past 25 years.

Handing over the house on May 9 in Mochudi, Builders World Gaborone director, Mr Bary Hassen said their company was well known for contributions towards community development and sport.

Nonetheless, he said they had forgotten important people who helped run business on a daily basis, their staff. He said some of them complained that despite their good gesture in the community, they seemed to have been forgotten and “that is when we realised that they are right.”

Mr Hassen said after meeting with other directors, they agreed and decided to help one of their long-term serving employee. He said they chose Ms Sekgopi because she commuted from Mochudi every day and was always punctual for work and did her job well.

He said they contacted Mr Rapula Moetlo who agreed to build the house free of charge and they were grateful for his gesture. Speaking on behalf of the World of Group of Companies executive director, Mr Mbako Mpuchane said the plan for the house was designed and approved by the relevant authorities.

He said it was their policy that they were part and participated in practical projects in the communities within which they carried out their business. Mr Mpuchane further said it was also in their policy to sponsor various sporting activities throughout the country.

He added that it was late last year in one of the board meetings that Mr Hassen showed concern about one of their loyal and long serving employee and requested that Builders World Gaborone be mandated to fund the extension of her house.

That, Mr Mpuchane, said showed that the management cared for the wellbeing of their employees as well as the communities.

Social protection director, Ms Ruth Radibe commended Builders World for extending the house of one of their employees adding that such good gesture would go a long way in the life of Ms Sekgopi.

She said that was also in response to the call by President Lt Gen Seretse Khama Ian Khama for companies and individuals to come forth and build houses for the needy. Ms Radibe further said Ms Sekgopi and her family would now live a dignified life because shelter gave them honour and dignity.

The director said the P95 000 used to complete the house showed how committed the World Group of Companies was to improving the lives of people, especially their staff members.

Ms Radibe encouraged Ms Sekgopi to engage in other social support programmes so that she may improve her life, further adding that the company had shown compassion and care as per the Vision 2016 pillars.

Ms Sekgopi ran short of words to express the joy and happiness which the company had brought in her life.

She said she was thankful and grateful for the three bedroomed beautiful house connected with electricity and water.

She also thanked God who put it in the heart of her superiors to look at her needs and address them.
