| May 21, 2015

Choral music fanatics will, on May 30, be treated to a variety of sweet melodious pieces by Maikano Serenaders of Botswana and North West University Serenaders of South Africa.

The two serenaders will be sharing stage in a choral musical concert slated for Maitisong in Gaborone. This concert will mark one year of official partnership between the two groups.

Maikano Serenaders public relations officer, Gosego Lesole said the partnership had greatly benefited their choir as they now sounded mature and doing well performance wise. She said preparations for the upcoming show were in full swing as the choir had already started rehearsals for the concert.

The Gaborone West based youthful choir, is guided by its mission statement which says the choir was established “to provide the youth with an opportunity to learn, appreciate and develop their talents in music.”

The Maikano Serenaders choir first made its appearance in the local choral scenes back in 2006 which then followed a successful launch in June of 2007.

It has since taken part in various competitions both locally and in the neighboring countries especially South Africa at the Old Mutual National Choir Festival.

Maikano scooped three trophies during the 2014 BeMobile choir challenge.
