Comedy Shows Signs of Growth

| April 15, 2015

Gone are the days when the entertainment industry was predominantly music festivals, as other forms are now vastly making their way in.

One other form of entertainment that has grown in leaps and bounds in Botswana is none other than standup comedy. Many people have now resorted to comedy for entertainment given the frequency of shows staged and the turnout at these events.

Major Moves Comedy will on May 1 host yet another show dubbed the Rail Park Comedy and Wine Night, following many that they staged since beginning of the year.

The show is expected to bring non-stop laughter and excitement to comedy enthusiasts at Rail Park Mall Food Court area with Botswana and South Africa’s most funny and acclaimed stand-up comedians.

The audience will be treated to too much hilarity and great silliness from a variety of comics at this event, given the mouthwatering lineup.

Headliners for the upcoming show will be Botswana’s heavyweights Bafana ‘Ribcracker’ Letsatsi and Oefile ‘Mawee’ Mokgware from the Major Moves Comedy crew and top South African comedian Thapelo ‘Tips’ Seemise

Thapelo also known as Shampoo from the popular series Taxi Ride and currently doing comedy on SABC 1 Sports, was in 2009 a top six finalist on the second season of the SABC1 reality competition talent search ‘So You Think You’re Funny’.

The supporting acts for the show will include Augustus ‘Legusty’ Mokgadi from Mochudi and Phenyo ‘The Master’ Phaladi from Molepolole.

Phenyo ‘The Master’ is no stranger to comedy as he recently performed in Kasane and also impressed at the Heavyweight International Comedy Festival featuring Chester Missing of South Africa.

He brings clean, high energy, fun and clever comedy to the show while he has extensively toured with some of the industry’s top comedians and been featured on most Major Moves Comedy shows.
