Ecco Sink Deeper

| April 2, 2015

Ecco City Greens sunk deeper into relegation trouble on Tuesday (March 31) as premier league log leaders, Mochudi Centre Chiefs beat them 2-0 in Serowe.

Centre Chiefs 2-0 victory also meant that they remained at the top of the league log with 56 points. Magosi scored in the first half through Kekaetswe Moloi after the Mamojadiski defence failed to deal with a cross.

Despite numerous attacks, Ecco, which had the upper hand in the first half, were frustrated by the Chiefs defence. Magosi enjoyed more possession of the ball in the second half which left Ecco chasing their shadows.

They duly sealed their victory through former Ecco star, Tendai Nyumasi, whose shot gave goalkeeper Boitumelo Semaatla no chance. Throughout the game, Pontsho Moloi, proved his experience even though his efforts on goal bore no fruit.

In a post-match interview, Chiefs coach Mike Sithole said their aim was to continue maintaining the lead so that they could stay at the top. He said his midfield was shaky though they managed to grab the three points.

He explained that his team played their best in the second half and he was impressed, adding that it showed that they were in good momentum to win the league.

Mamojadiski coach, Texan Phiri, said he was impressed by his team in the first half but pointed that lack of experience of playing in bigger matches let his team down. Phiri said he was worried by his team’s inability to score goals. However, he said he hoped to address that though the league is nearing its end.
