Elephant Kills Man

Police in Kazungula are investigating a case in which a 78-year-old man was killed by an elephant a few kilometers from Kazungula on April 2.

Acting station commander, Assistant Superintendent Meshack Ranku said a passerby reported the case to police officers who were at the time manning a roadblock.

“The victim was then rushed to Kasane Primary Hospital where he was certified dead,” he said. He aised people to be careful when moving away from residential areas because the area was infested with wild and dangerous animals.

In another case, police in Kasane are investigating a “threat to kill” case in which a 28-year-old woman was reportedly threatened by a 32-year-old man at Thebe Safari lodge.

According to Superintendent Silton Fidzani, the case was reported on April 4. “The accused is said to have hurled profanities and insults at the lady and her friend, including the threat to kill her,” he said.

He explained that a threat to kill case was opened and that the accused would appear for mention at Kasane Magistrate Court.
