Hats Off to Orapa JSS

The acting general manager of Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines (OLDM), Mr Bakani Motlhabani, has commended Orapa Junior Secondary School for consistently earning first position in the entire country since 2010.

Mr Motlhabani said this on April 24 in an event where the school celebrated its outstanding performance in the Junior Certificate Examination 2014 results. The school attained attained an overall pass mark of 97. 6 per cent.

The school, he said, had allowed students to be more purposeful and more mature to embrace life’s challenges that they might face as they continued in their journey of learning.

He said as they proceeded with their education, they would find themselves in totally different environments that would require emotional adjustment for both parent and child.

Self-reliance and discipline on the part of the child would help reduce the anxiety of being in a new environment and being away from their parents and guardians.

Mr Motlhabani added that as they entered a new phase in their lives, which involved a new chapter in an exciting world full of challenges and opportunities, they would need to be selective in the choices they made.

Their academic journey he said was not over yet, saying they must be clear on their end result and how they wished to get there. “The decisions you make today will determine who you become tomorrow you will face many challenges but this is what the real world is all about,” he said.

The day’s theme, which read, ’empowering the future generation with survival skills in today’s competitive world – a key towards attaining self-reliance,’ was relevant as it required them to remain focused and motivated.

Mr Motlhabani urged the learners to have fun responsibly, stating that a balance in learning, sport and responsible fun was key to future success. Significant success he said was better achieved through the exchange of ideas and how individuals connected diverse imaginations.

He implored them to challenge themselves beyond their own capabilities, knowing that the circumstance of their surrounding did not have to define them.

Mr Motlhabani further commended Orapa JSS’ head teacher, teachers and staff for shaping leaders of tomorrow.
