I Am Legend Concerts to Rock Gaborone

| April 13, 2015

The entertainment industry has in the past two years seen significant growth with promoters bringing top notch entertainers for Batswana to enjoy.

The I am Legend Concerts are set to continue the trend and on May 29, the Molapo Piazza will be buzzing with live performances from world class performers.

The newly built Molapo Piazza boasts a world class stage and outstanding sound system and it has emerged as one of the best, if not the only best stage set up in Gaborone.

It also boasts multiple entries andor exit gates and a spacious ambience area for fans to enjoy and freely move about without being cramped into small space. The event organiser, Thabo Letshwiti said the line-up would feature the legendary Don Laka, The Soil, Vusi Nova, Lizibo, Mmaphala and Mcjon.

“All artistes or bands will be playing live,” he said, indicating that live performances give solid interactions between fans and artistes, resulting in the latter being more appreciated and respected.

He indicated that the show was not headlined by The Soil as some have reported, but the group was rather a part of greater line up of music icons to look out for. Letshwiti indicated that the presence of The Soil and Don Laka sharing the stage with local artistes would give Botswana music industry a chance to witness and benchmark on stage presence and quality production from such celebrated musical icons.

“And this will not only be beneficial for the local acts who will perform, but also others who will be in attendance just to soak up the music,” he added. In the entertainment industry environment and how rewarding it was to promoters, Letshwiti said it was challenging, demanding and risky but the rewards could be available if shows were executed well.

On the debate that most local artistes had raised concerns that international artistes were paid more and that local promoters were not giving them a chance, Letshwiti said artistes spoke for themselves and he respects everyone’s opinion.

“However, sometimes it makes logical sense to gauge by the musician’s achievements such as awards, sales, industry reputation and packaging. Locals are already on a positive path, we just have to keep supporting them for their growth and nurturing,” he said.

He indicated that I am Legends Concerts believed in empowering locals hence the event line-up with the best of both in the selected genres of upcoming artistes. The show is expected to start at 7pm and tickets cost P200 (standard) and P300 (golden circle).

Computickets are sold at any Shoprite, Checkers, U SAVE supermarkets countrywide, Cappello at Masa Centre, Flava Restaurant at Molapo Crossing. Letshwiti said people can also send text messages, WhatsApp messages or call 72118898 for private deliveries.
