Kgosi Urges Public Servants to Serve With Pride

Public servants have been urged to provide top quality services to their clientele whilst at the same time taking pride in serving the nation.

Speaking during the district public service day celebrations in Serowe, Wednesday May 27, Kgosi Mokhutshwane Sekgoma reminded public servants that they were part of the government and hence should not mislead and misinform decision makers and those in power as that would equate sabotage.

Held under the theme, ‘Innovating public service delivery to implement the post 2016 development agenda,’ Kgosi Sekgoma rallied the civil servants to first value the services they render to the public and discharge their duties diligently.

To drive his point home, Kgosi Sekgoma cited an anecdote of an architect who was contracted to design and build a house but chose to use substandard material in order to maximise his profit.

“The architect was then handed the house as payment instead and upon hearing the news he was so disappointed to the level of crumbling down,” Kgosi Sekgoma said, emphasising the need to always render the services that one would want provided to themselves.

He further implored the workers to be agents of change they so much require by influencing the environment and remaining true to their form.

For her part, secretary for reforms at the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Keba Nyati stimulated the public servants to make contributions which would make a positive change in the development of the country.

She said rewarding employees was an initiative to motivate service providers to take a quantum leap towards quality service delivery.

Ms Nyati told the gathered public servants at Serowe College of Education that the celebrations offered them opportunities to celebrate and take pride in the services they provide.

“We ought to also seriously introspect,” she said, adding that reflecting would provide solutions to public outcry on public servants inefficiencies.

“It is no longer about customer satisfaction, it is about customer delight,” Ms Nyati said and aised that continuous improvement and success have no finish line.
