Commonwealth Africa Anti-Corruption Centre (CAACC) in conjunction with the Ministry of Lands and Housing and Transparency International (TI) secretariat will host a workshop on land and corruption in Africa in Gaborone from June 10 to12.

A press release from CAACC said the workshop would officially open on Wednesday (June 10).

The release stated that the aim of the Land and Corruption in Africa project was to contribute to improved livelihoods of people aersely affected by corrupt practices in land administration and land deals, and thereby enhance security of tenure, as well as ensure equitable and fair access to land, and ultimately sustainable and inclusive development and growth.

The two-day workshop will bring together practitioners from the public sector, civil society including TI National Chapters, and academia to discuss and understand better corruption in the land sector.

Ultimately, the release says, discussions and learning from the workshop will support the participating TI National Chapters and the TI-Secretariat to develop concrete activities for project implementation and stakeholder engagement at national, regional, and international levels.
