BDF XI and Letlapeng played to a one-all draw at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks (SSKB) on Tuesday (April 28).

The draw shattered Letlapeng dreams of playing in the elite league next season and Rock of Ages joined Francistown side Ecco City Greens to first division north and south respectively

The game started with a low tempo given that both teams were cautions, but as the game progressed, Matebele opened the game and the battle was fought in the middle of the park with BDF X1 trying to control the game. BDF marshalled the midfield through Ofentse Mmipi.

The stalwart creative midfielder took the challenge to Letlapeng, with unwavering passing rate creating spaces and runs for his strikers, trying to unlock the stubborn defence of Letlapeng.

Despite BDF X1 over powering their opponents with good runs as they pushed hard onto their final third, Letlapeng solid defence commanded by Farook Chikondi Likwemba stood and lived the test.

Sensing a need of an early goal BDF X1 switched to left flank attacks through Kabelo Seakanyeng, however towards the 25 th minute into the first half Letlapeng made a forced substitution after Kerapetse Mosimanewakgosi sustained a minor injury and they introduced Kefile Magama.

The game went into recess with score board reading 0-0, and after break, BDF X1 made two substitutions by introducing Keagile Kobe and Kumbulani Madziba replacing Kabelo Seakanyeng and Ofentse Mmipi to rein enforce the midfield.

However Letlapeng reacted by introducing pintsized Tshegofatso Chimuku, for Thato Motlhatlhobi, the substitutions breathed more life to the game in the event BDF X1 pilling more pressure to Letlapeng defence forcing them to fall back and pack up ten players playing behind the ball.

Letlapeng switched their play and tried capitalizing on a break with counterattacks, and under pressure Letlapeng defence made a sloppy error in the 52 nd minutes of the game in which striker Master Masitara exploited beating the keeper but shot wide miles away from goal mouth.

On the 69 th minute,Letlapeng launched a counter attack on the right flank only to succumb to hard tackling Thato Ogopotse, won the ball and layed a long pass on to their left flank, by then Mastira was wide receiving the pass and quickly square passed into the 18 area.

The recipient of the pass, Lesego Lubinda dibrilled past Letlapeng defender and slopped a shot far post beating Thabiso Mathe into the back of the net sending BDF X1 into a goal to zero lead.

Combination of Chimuku and Lebogang Ditsile who came in as a substitute proved to cause havoc in the midfield for BDF X1, causing them to substitute Masitara for Lorato Mosweu.

In the 82 nd mitutes of the game, Letlapeng broke a stride into the last half of BDF X1, Ditsile controlled the ball and then hit a long range shot on target, without anticipating the shot BDF X1 goal minder Ontiretse Gaotlhobogwe mishandled the ball.

From a rebound Letlapeng lone striker Mogomotsi Mokoka capitalized on the chance and leveled up with BDF.

Despite what others may think as a fair result for Letlapeng, the fact with the Ramotswa side is that they have been relegated and their demise was long caused by Nico’s result last weekend when they won two goals to nil over Sankoyo Bush Bucks.
