Look for More Opportunities – Official

Botho University students and alumni have been implored to look for more opportunities and avoid poor work ethic in the national labour force.

Officially opening Botho University Francistown Career Fair on Friday, April 17, the public relations manager of Tati Nickel Mining Company, Mr Tebogo Rapitsenyane urged them to identify poor work ethic as the main concern for doing business in Botswana.

He said students should be equipped with relevant information and knowledge of what was required of them to be absorbed by organisations.

Mr Rapitsenyane said despite all the challenges, Botho University has continued to produce quality graduates, not only in terms of academics but well rounded.

He applauded the university for going the extra mile in trying for find jobs for graduates, and for providing quality education.

Mr Rapitsenyane further said with such high unemployment of the youth, his colleagues in the corporate world should give young graduates a chance for employment or a platform to acquire the much needed experience.

He said the career fair theme: Striving towards a successful partnership in creating career opportunities, was rightly directed at students and graduates and addresses the importance of fostering partnerships with prospective employers.

In his welcoming remarks, Botho University Centre manager, Mr Joseph Gwekwerere said the purpose of the career fair for students and the alumni was to create opportunities to meet people in the business industry.

He urged them to explore availed opportunities in the job market, adding that various opportunities such as internship were crucial to start a business.

Mr Gwekwerere also urged students to think outside the box and be imaginative and seek something to engage on.

“The job market is very competitive and I urge you to listen very attentively,” said Mr Gwekwerere.

He added that the career fair was one of their interventions which provide an opportunity to aspiring job seekers to interact with company recruiters, obtaining contact details and have an in-depth knowledge about the various industries in one convenient setting.
