Mabaila Foundation Donates Blankets, Trees

Batswana have been encouraged to support the government by reaching out to the less privileged.

Speaking during the handing over of 50 blankets and 20 fruit trees to the Office of the President, the founder of Mabaila Foundation Mr Tshepang Mabaila said Batswana needed to get rid of their self-centeredness and be a lamb of sacrifice for fellow citizens especially the needy.

“Life is not about you but about everyone you touch and meet,” he said. Mr Mabaila pointed out that giving was reciprocated in that it also started the receiving process.

On the foundation, he said, they were committed to the Vision 2016 pillar of a compassionate, just and caring nation, saying it therefore lied within their hearts to ensure that all citizens live a dignified life.

He said the gift of blankets and fruit trees was a token of their commitment and involvement in the poverty eradication endeavour so that the disaantaged may ultimately have the much needed food security and restore self-esteem.

Receiving the donation on behalf of President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, the acting Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Phillip Makgalemele, expressed gratitude for the gifts.

Mr Makgalemele said such donations were an added aantage to the President’s Housing Appeal package which benefits a lot of disaantaged members of the society.

He stated that the gifts are welcome as they provide a platform for the office to reach out to the less fortunate. He said the blankets could not have come at the right time especially that the winter season is just around the corner.

He also said the fruit trees would go a long way into providing additional food security as a way of eradicating poverty. Mr Makgalemele hailed Mr Mabaila saying as a young person, he resembles a true leader of tomorrow and thanked him for impacting the lives of the many.

He commended the foundation for its selflessness by always responding positively to assist the under privileged in society. Mr Makgalemele also urged other corporate entities to emulate the Mabaila Foundation to assist the needy.
