Magosi Reign Supreme

Mochudi Centre Chiefs received their be Mobile Premier League trophy after beating Police XI 2-1 in Molepolole on Saturday (May 16).

Magosi went into the match having already wrapped up the championship, their fourth league title in seven years. However, their supporters thronged the match in big numbers and were at their best with song and dance.

The first half opened with an early goal by Lemponye Tshireletso in the 15thminute. The goal gave Magosi confidence, but Police XI dominated most of the first half even though they missed scoring chances. The first half ended with Magosi leading 1-0.

After the break, Police XI were awarded a penalty, which they scored through Uyapo Seleka five minutes into the second half.

Instead of taking aantage of the equaliser and putting pressure on Chiefs, Police XI lost concentration and opened themselves up for attack from Chiefs. That resulted with Chiefs scoring the winning goal through Senatla Molefhe, who came on as a substitute.

Chiefs coach, Michael Sithole was elated for clinching the championship. He gave credit to all his players for their performance. He said that he was able to give each player a chance to contribute by shuffling them throughout the season.

Police XI coach, Maitumelo Letlaamoreng, congratulated Chiefs for playing well during the match. He said the early goal by Magosi killed their strategy. He further noted that his boys lost concentration after the equaliser shuttering their hopes for a top four spot.

The be Mobile heead of sponsorships and consumer public relations, Tiro Kganela said they were happy with the way the league went.

Kganela said that next season the sponsors will introduce a new strategy called Be Campaign which is meant to engage the fans in rating local football.
