Moono Football Spectacular On Cards

| May 13, 2015

The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) will host a football tournament dubbed Moono Football Spectacular at the National Stadium on May 30.

Addressing the media at Big Five Lodge recently, the Member of Parliament for Mogoditshane, Sedirwa Kgoroba, said the objective of the tournament was to bring people together.

Kgoroba, who is the project coordinator, explained that the event was not politically motivated. He urged the public to attend the tournament in large numbers. “The event will be graced by artistes and people should attend in large numbers and the public should expect fun and to interact with their politicians,” Kgoroba said.

He said four games were scheduled for the tournament in which the Under 15 UDC northern region team will face the southern region. UDC ladies from the southern region will also play their northern counterparts.

The other game will be between UDC Members of Parliament and the UDC Executive Committee. “Lastly, the retired local soccer stars will face Africa’s finest soccer legends,” he said.

He, however, would not confirm the names of retired soccer legends who will participate in the tournament as he said preparations were not yet final. Kgoroba said they would also stage a beauty contest on May 29 at Millennium Jazz Restaurant, where one contestant will represent each constituency.

He said due to logistical challenges they did not manage to attract participants from all over the country as they had planned. However, he said he hopes that the tournament will continue to be annual and grow.
