No Plans to Discontinue Course Offered at Macheng

| April 14, 2015

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development has no plans to discontinue the auto mechanic course offered at Macheng Brigade.

Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraele Goya, said even though a decision was taken during National Development Plan 9 when taking over brigades, a concrete decision had not been taken to remove auto mechanic at Macheng Brigades.

He said a team had been set up to finalise the report and suggest modalities of carrying out the exercise in a fair and objective manner.

Mr Goya also pointed out that any decision taken would be subjected to proper consultations with the community and all stakeholders including the Member of Parliament. He added that a rationalisation exercise would take into consideration the sustainability of community based skills and services.

The Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi North, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi, had asked the assistant minister whether it was true that the auto mechanic course offered at Macheng Brigade in the Kgalagadi North constituency would soon be discontinued.

Mr Moipisi also wanted to know what motivated the discontinuation, and whether it was it not detrimental to the current practice where government and the community benefit from servicing their vehicles at the said brigade.
