President Khama Off to America

President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama leaves on Monday May 25 for Washington DC, USA to participate in the Board of Directors meeting of Conservation International.

A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation states that at the meeting, President Khama would be expected to give some reflections on the efforts that the government has undertaken to ensure prosperity for all through resource management.

President Khama, accompanied by senior government officials, is also expected to brief the meeting about the outcome of the recent Kasane Conference on the Illegal Wildlife Trade.

“It should be recalled that statement of the Kasane Conference was premised on the commitments of the London Conference Declaration.”

The meeting would also discuss the state of commitment to the Gaborone Declaration for Sustainability in Africa which was the outcome of the summit hosted by Botswana in 2012.

President Khama is expected back in Gaborone on May 31.
