Rollers Celebration On Hold

| May 13, 2015

Although Township Rollers women team managed to win their two games over the weekend against UB Kicks and Untouchable, they were not crowned Women Super League champions because Double Action won their game against Prisons.

Seven points separates Township Rollers and Double Action, but Rollers could not be declared champions because they have six soft points.

Rollers are at the summit of the log having played 21 games, winning 19, drawing two and they have never lost a single game and have accumulated 59 points, followed by Double Action with 52 points.

Therefore Township Rollers supporters should wait for the ‘must win ‘game against Big Sisters to be played at Ledumang Senior Secondary on Saturday (May 16).

For Rollers to be crowned champions they need to win against the unpredictable ‘Biggie’ at all costs because a draw or a loss might send them to play-offs between them and Double Action to determine the ultimate winner.

However on Saturday (May 9), Double Action came from behind and forced a 2-1 victory against Kanye Swallows courtesy of Bonang ‘Bebeto’ Otlhagile and Neo Masimola goals.

The Swallows goal was converted by Sethunya Modise.

The game started at a high tempo with both teams enjoying ball possession, as the game progressed, Kanye Swallows showed a lot of maturity by denying Double Action a chance to play their normal game on the day.

The game went into recess with the score sheet reading 0-0, but after the break, both teams managed to hit the back of the net, with Double Action shaking it twice.

On Sunday (May 10), Township Rollers continued with their unbeaten run when they clobbered Untouchable 5-0 in a game that was played at SSG ground.

Rollers goals were converted by Refilwe Pilane, Gosego Lekoko, Bame Ngenda, Masego Koboto, and Amogelang Moahi.

During the game, Popa ladies showed some champion skills as they were more comfortable on the ball, whereas their opponents were ball watching most of the time.

Although, Untouchable tried hard to at least penetrate Rollers defence, all their efforts to score were thwarted by Rollers experienced goalkeeper, Sedilame Bosija, who was a marvel to watch.

In other games on Saturday, Mexican Girls and Big Sisters played to a one all draw, Prison managed to beat South East Girls 4-2 in their own turf.

Township Rollers clobbered UB Kicks 7-0 in a game played at Mma-Masire ground.

At New Look Primary School, Meat Girls beat Untouchable 5-1, while a game between Makua vs Vicomates was not played.
