South East South Girls Clip Swallows Wings

| May 20, 2015

It was a sweet revenge when South East South Girls stunned hosts, Kanye Swallows 2-0 in the Women Football League match played at Swallows grounds in Kanye on Saturday (May 16).

South East South Girls stamped their authority right from the onset and were determined not to concede a second defeat following their 2-1 drubbing by Kanye Swallows in the first round at Sedie grounds in Ramotswa.

The two goals, scored in each half by South East South Girls enterprising winger Koketso Modisenyane dashed Swallows hopes of ending in top five position this season.

The game started with the Ramotswa side putting pressure on Swallows defense through their talented skipper Keitumetse Molaole whose poise on the ball was a marvel.

Keitumetse precise passing of the ball and especially her combination with Gaolebogwe Molete and Modisenyane proved too dangerous for the swallows’ defense.

In spite of the display of good football, South East South lacked that fire power up front to score as the Swallows defense seemed equal to the task and did not give the former room inside the box.

Just towards mid-way into the first half the hosts started to rise to the occasion and play like a thirsty lot launching most of their attacks from the wings. In what turned into a see-saw match, the two teams had a go at each other but lacked that midas touch to score.

When everybody had thought the game will go into recess without a goal, the Ramotswa side stunned their opponents by scoring from a set piece from outside the box on the 38th minute.

Captain Keitumetse set up the talented Modisenyane who chipped the ball over the Swallows goal minder to give her side a well-deserved lead.

After recess Kanye Swallows came with all guns blazing but their forwards continued to be wasteful upfront shooting wide at goal most of the time. South East South girls sank the hearts of Swallows supporters five minutes into the second half through Modisenyane to solidify their victory.

Lady luck just did not smile upon Swallows as their striker Marata Silabo failed to convert from the spot kick to garner consolation goal for her team.
