David Ouma, Kenya women’s football team coach has named his 18-member squad which departs today for Labotse, Botswana for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games qualifier against Botswana.

Ouma named the squad after a friendly match against Gaspo at the Safaricom Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani yesterday, which the Harambee Starlets won 4-0.

The tactian who doubles up as Sofapaka assistant coach said the players had shown growth and he can only hope for the best at the Saturday clash.

“We want to win away, we have trained well. So far our match fitness is at a better place after, having begun our training last Friday ,” said the tactian.

“All the players were part of the team that played Egypt early this year and I believe they have what it takes to upset the Botswana tie.

Tabaka Chacha is making a comeback and brings her experience and exposure to the team. At this stage, we need players who can read and interpret the game and that was key in the selection of the team.” Ouma said

In the friendly match, women premier league side Spadag’s forward Veronica Nafula scored a brace, with Jacky Ogol and Soccer Queens skipper Neddy Atieno scoring one each Ouma said he was aware their opponents have played a high billed friendly against South Africa but was quick to note that was no cause for alarm.
