‘Absence of Match Officials Worrisome’

Kazungula Young Fighters assistant coach, Labaone Ramatampe says match officials who do not honour matches are a great concern.

Speaking in an interview after their encounter against Amakhosi Football Club (FC) in the Debswana First Division North League in Francistown on November 8, he said it was a good game that was spoilt by the middle man.

“It is worrisome to play a game without a match official, especially a fourth official,” he said. He said it was a great concern because it was difficult to make substitutions and lodge a complainant or protest.

Ramatampe appealed to relevant officials to correct the situation. He also said he was disturbed by the decisions taken by the referee. The assistant coach said although they lost, his team did not lose focus and played well.

Both teams started the game on a high note although they failed to capitalise on scoring opportunities.

Amakhosi pilled more pressure in the first half and their search for goals bore fruit on the 44th minute when their captain, Screamer Kgotle scored the only goal of the game to get his team maximum points.

Hardly four minutes into the second half, Kazungula player, Letsweletse Haskins was given a red card after being shown two yellow cards for reckless tackles.

Three minutes before the end of the game, Amakhosi’s Bokamoso Phuthego also received his second yellow card for handling the ball resulting in a red card.

Commenting on the red card, Ramatampe said his player lacked discipline on the day. He said he made a reckless challenge that deserved a card, adding that he does not tolerate such tackles.

For his part, Amakhosi assistant coach, Mmoloki Thomas said he was happy that his team collected maximum points. Thomas added that his team was g at the back but lacked patience at the centre and forward.

Amakhosi have 12 points after seven games while Kazungula are sitting on eight points after seven games. They won two, drew two and lost three.
