Second division South outfit Blue Hunters FC’s plucky right winger, Ishmael France, stormed out of Kanye Swallows defence thrice to see his team clinch the inaugural Kgatleng floating trophy in a 4-2 thriller.

The sleek France kept Swallows defence on their toes for a good share of the time and scored a hat trick to give his team an unassailable lead in a three team cup tournament held at Southern Pirates grounds in Kanye.

Swallows only found their feet in the second half after the introduction of Thuto Modise who gave them shape and urgency in search for goal. And Swallows were rewarded with two goals after dominating the second half but it was too little too late.

Besides the trophy, Hunters also won P 900 prize money followed by Southern Pirates with P800 and P700 for Swallows.

Meanwhile the tournament organiser Mr Kaboyarona Segokgo said the games were a prelude to the official opening of the Kgatleng kgotla offices. He said he brought Kgatleng ward teams, which also happened to be the biggest teams in the village to play ahead of the grand opening scheduled for November 28, with a view to give it a hype.

He said the tournament was also intended to encourage the soccer lovers to contribute to community development.

Mr Segokgo, also Pirates chairman said he would find a sponsor for the tournament in order to have it every three years. He planned to bring the business community on board and encourage members to adopt local teams.
