Botswana: Tsabong Hospital to Benefit From Economic Stimulus Package

Business & Finance

Omaweneno – The Minister of Health, Ms Dorcas Makgato says Tsabong Primary Hospital will get a facelift from the Economic Stimulus Package (ESP) programme.

Ms Makgatho informed Omaweneno residents during a kgotla meeting addressed by President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama on April 22.

She said the 33 bed facility would get upgraded to 70 beds through ESP during the 2017/18 financial year.

The minister was optimistic that the expansion would address congestion at the district facility. She said the move was motivated by the fact that the facility catered for Tsabong and its catchment areas.

She said the Tsabong Clinic would meanwhile get a laboratory, X-ray, oral, maternity and sexual and reproductive health wing among others.

She further said the Bokspits Clinic would also get a maternity wing and outpatient department, while the Rappelspan Health Post would be upgraded into a clinic, but without a maternity wing.

The minister also complained that many Batswana were dying from lifestyle disease such as hypertension, sugar diabetes and cancer more than they did to HIV/AIDS.
