Nearly halfway into the football league season, Central South Regional Football Association (CSRFA) league is still without a sponsor.

CSRFA’s public relation officer, Mogonono Maseba said in an interview that the seven-team league was struggling to secure sponsors. “We have approached companies seeking sponsorship some have responded saying they are not yet ready to sponsor the league, while other companies have not responded to this day,” he said.

Due to lack of sponsorship, Maseba said CSRFA struggled to pay match officials and meet administrative expenses, adding that teams in the league were struggling financially as they barely make enough to meet transport expenses.

“Fortunately our teams are based not far from each other, otherwise the situation would be worse,” he said. Maseba also said lack of price money discouraged their teams to work hard to improve their log standings.

“We need sponsorship because it is in the regional leagues where talent is identified and nurtured, and, to cultivate talent teams need a lot of resources,” he said. Furthermore Maseba said sponsorship did not have to be in the form of money only as it can be in the form of transportation, refreshments or any other form.

H said, by sponsoring the league, the sponsor’s brand would gain more mileage in the society through branding at matches, the name of the league and media exposure.” He therefore urged the business community in and around Mahalapye to come on board and sponsor the said league.

CSRFA league consists of seven teams from Kalamare, Shoshong and Mahalapye each of which consists of a quota of 40 percent under 20 players.
