Christians Kindle 2015 At National Stadium

| January 7, 2015

Against domineering crisp white apparels, Botswana’s Blue, Black and White flag was hoisted in the air by multitudes of enthusiastic Christians dressed in white who were gathered at the national stadium to usher in year 2015.

The annual candle light service which was organised by The Gospel of God’s Grace Church from Kopong commonly referred to as ‘3G’ attracted thousands of Christians who kindled the national stadium with trifling gold candle lights momentarily decorating the stadium with a striking glow in the wee hours of January 01, 2014.

Held under the theme “Year of Distinction” Christians made declarations as the candles lit, declaring light in their lives hoping for new beginnings in every area of their lives in 2015.

In an interview with BOPA church Representative Tebogo Mokhutshwane, said their church was founded in 2011 and the candle light service began in the church premises and as the church grew, “God led us to hold the cross over candle light service in a bigger space.”

“The objective was to come together as the church to thank God for his Love, grace and mercies which he showed us in 2014. Lighting of candles represents the light of God that should shine in every area of our lives,” he said.

Furthermore, colourful flags of neighboring countries in the SADC region including that of Nigeria were hoisted, “These flags act as the contact point to touch nations within the SADC region. Today we have visitors from these countries such as Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho and South Africa,” he said.

The leader and founder of the church Prophet Cedric Kobedi prayed for the nation and dwelled much on the book of 2 Chronicles chapter 7 verse 14:

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

He said the nation must call upon the Lord for guidance, for leadership for there is none like God.

Also at the event, BOPA witnessed extraordinary things which Christians call instant miracles when prophet Cedric went past the people on prayer line.

People gave testimonies some said they were healed of various ailments.
