Abuja: Mrs. Oghogho Musa, President of the Defence and Police Officers' Wives Association (DEPOWA), has urged wives of military and police personnel to remain active and avoid stress to maintain their health. Musa made this appeal during the DEPOWA monthly aerobics event titled 'Dance to De-Stress', held in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Musa emphasized the importance of physical activity for the women, encouraging them to engage in exercises like dancing to stay active and avoid stress-related health issues. She highlighted that dancing not only provides fun but also helps in burning unnecessary fats and keeping fit. Musa advised the women to incorporate music and dance into their daily routines at home as a means to remain active.
Musa explained the necessity of this exercise for military wives, considering their role in managing the home front during their husbands' frequent absences. She stressed that staying active is an investment in their future health, urging the women to continue dancing and exercising regularly for their well-being.
Dr. Juliet Ango, Consultant Public Health Physician and Chairperson of the Health and Sports Committee of DEPOWA, also addressed the participants, discussing the often-overlooked impact of stress on mental and physical health. Ango pointed out that stress could lead to hypertension and other health problems. She encouraged the women to de-stress intentionally by setting aside time for relaxation and engaging in physical activities or sports.
