Dinare women trounced Bears 8-5 in the ongoing BOFINet softball league at the National Diamond on November 29.

Bonolo Molefhe was first to register her name on the score board for Dinare as they pocketed a solitary point in the first inning. Bears, having failed to register a point in the opening inning, answered back in inning two courtesy of Melitah Seabelo’s run.

Dinare came in to the second inning composed and ready to topple the veterans with Tebogo Lackson scoring a point through a pass ball. Monnosi Sanane then smacked the ball to the outfield while all bases were full which sailed home Chatiwa Nsala, Kgomotso Kootsiwe and Sarona Tango.

Katlego Thande replaced Sanane at second base as a designated runner and the former followed suit and registered a run, thanks to Thusani Jikijela’s hit. Nevertheless, Bears scored a solitary point in the third inning by Tshepo Letsholo courtesy of Masego Kwape’s hit.

The third, fourth and fifth innings were a dry spell for Dinare while the opponents on the other hand managed to square in a point in the fifth inning through Dikeletso Ramokhutshwane tallying them to three.

The third inning saw Dinare drive home two points from Sanane and Jikijela through a ball propelled by Galeboe Nfolwe just along the first base outfield border line. Bears wrapped up the game in the seventh inning with two runs from Ramokhutshwane and Gopolang Matsila as they went down 5- 8.

It was not a gloomy day after all for Bears, as the men’s side humiliated Dinare 16-4 to lighten up their ladies spirits. Bears were just on another level dismantling the opponents from all the diamond corners as Dinare efforts all went futile.

They switched pitchers, swapped positions in the infield, called multiple conferences but still Bears punished them severely.
