Gaborone United continued their fine form in the closely contested be Mobile Premier League campaign when they put two goals past BDF XI on November 22.

Fresh from resounding back to back victories against a hapless FC Satmos, Moyagoleeledid not show the army side reverence in their own back yard.

GU’s injury prone winger, Kgololo Kgogobi, who is regaining his past form was the first to hand GU its first real chance of first half when his well taken free kick was tipped off the upright by an alert Agnecious Tebagano in BDF XI goalposts.

Ronald Chikomo who had replaced an injured Mandla Mgadla added more pressure upfront and moments later Abednico Powell was fouled a few metres from the box. Kgogobi took another chance and this time Tebagano was left sprawling on the turf as GU broke the deadlock.

BDF XI quickly recovered and just after Kgogobi’s goal Vincent Nzombe blew what looked like and equaliser after being left unmarked in the box. GU threaded together a couple of neat touches and Ntesang Simanyana was the last to make a faint touch to put the game beyond BDF XI’s reach.

When the second stanza kicked off and sensing more misery, BDF XI mentor Elijah Chikwanda threw in Keeagile Kobe for Thato Ogopotse. The move paid off as they became more lethal going forward and managing to take long range efforts.

With pressure mounting, Gaopatwe Seosenyeng conceded a penalty after failing to deal with Master Masitara inside the box. GU shot stopper Goitseone Phoko who had a bumper of a game parried off Lesego Lubinda’s spot kick.

In what clearly looked like a legitimate goal, Chikomo was denied by Othusitse Mpharitlhe’s clearance off the line which many Moyagoleele supporters adjudged to have crossed the goal line. GU face Police XI in their next league assignment.
