Jigawa Government Allocates N292 Million for Solar Water Projects


Dutse: The Jigawa Government has approved the sum of N292 million for the construction of 19 solar-powered water supply schemes across the state. The Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr. Sagir Musa, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Musa stated that the initiative is part of the government’s effort to enhance public health and address water scarcity in both urban and rural areas. The project will utilize solar energy to promote environmental sustainability through renewable energy technologies.



Musa highlighted that the project approval signifies the administration’s dedication to improving access to clean water and supporting green solutions. Additionally, the council has decided to rename the Ministry of Special Duties to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Special Duties.



The commissioner explained that the renaming aims to broaden the ministry’s mandate to effectively address emerging humanitarian challenges within the state. Musa mentioned that this change is in line with both national and international frameworks and will facilitate more effective coordination of humanitarian interventions for vulnerable populations.
