Kgaphamadi Not in Plan

Parliament has been told that there are no plans for development of Kgaphamadi in Kweneng District because the village has not assumed the status of a village and the majority of residents are squatters.

Responding to a question in, Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraela Goya, said he was aware that some students from Kgaphamadi in Kweneng District travelled a long distance to attend Boitumelo Primary School in South East District and that there was no regular public transport.

He said parents should be encouraged to cater for the transport needs of their children as walking distances may negatively affect their academic needs.

Gaborone North MP, Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister if he is aware that some student from Kgaphamadi village in Kweneng District who attend school at Boitumelo Primary School in Sebele have to walk over 15km daily to school as there is no public transport in the area.

He had also wanted the minister to state if there are any plans to assist these young pupils who arrive for classes late and tired from walking and whether this does not affect their performance.
