Local Government Ministry Partners With Limkokwing

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) and Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT) have launched a Memorandum of Understating (MoU) to fast track the Remote Area Development Programmes (RADP) implementation

The MoU will enhance among others, remote area communities access to social services, poverty eradication initiatives and other developmental programmes.MLGRD assistant minister, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said the framework was intended to establish and strengthen collaboration with development partners and other stakeholders to support and contribute towards addressing social and development needs of remote control.

It was the reason why my ministry reached out to Limkokwing University to seek its partnership in pursuit of the realisation of the objectives of the remote area development programmes,” she said.

She indicated that the two parties would work together in promoting youth development activities with particular focus to those that are in remote communities through various public and private sector schemes

The collaboration will also assist the rural communities’ increase students access to tertiary education brand and assist with the marketing of arts and crafts and share information on new technological and scientific innovations.

Ms Tshireletso said that although the MOU was being signed, the ministry’s partnership with Limkokwing is not new as they have done some projects before together which include placement of students from remote settlements in the university.Ms Tshireletso also hailed the university’s leadership for enormous support of the RADP, as the university also assisted with preparations for Miss RADP 2014 beauty pageant where they designed posters and tickets at no cost.

Academic Management vice president, Dr Raphael Dingalo said that the university was happy about the partnership and noted that the year 2014 has been an eventful one for their university.

He said that their important achievement this year was the full license to operate as a university.
