Ikare akoko: A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo, Dr. Afolabi Momoh, has emphasized that the recent wave of mass defections to the APC is a testament to the confidence Nigerians have in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Momoh made this statement while addressing over 100 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who recently joined the APC in Ikare Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area. He attributed the defections of governors, lawmakers, and other politicians from opposition parties to the ruling party to the sincerity of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Momoh expressed that the past two years under President Tinubu’s leadership have instilled hope among Nigerians that the nation can be transformed to meet expectations. He highlighted improvements in the economy, particularly in boosting the country’s foreign exchange.
Furthermore, Momoh revealed his intention to contest for the Ondo North Senatorial seat in 2027, aiming to address the region’s neglect and underdevelopment. He emphasized the need for good representation in the Red Chamber and promised to bring change with the support of stakeholders and policymakers.
Mr. Rasheed Bello, APC Chairman of Ekan Ward, praised Momoh as a capable leader who would exceed expectations if given the chance to lead. Chief Ekunnusi Liadi, the pioneer APC Chairman in the local government area, and Pastor Oluwole Arowolo, a former Chairman of the local government, both spoke highly of Momoh’s grassroots influence and positive impact on the community.
Mrs. Atinuke Akadiri, an aide to the Minister of Interior, expressed gratitude for Momoh’s interest in rescuing Ondo North, highlighting his reputation as a giver and life transformer, which she believes will bring the benefits of democracy to the region.
