The Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Mr Kenneth Matambo is aware that the construction of a revenue office and six staff houses at Hukuntsi Sub-district that was scheduled to start in April 2015, has not yet started.
Mr Matambo said there was a delay in the completion of the design of the Hukuntsi revenue office block. He noted that the original design was rejected by his ministry in September 2014 as it was unsuitable for purpose and above budget.
However, he said the consultants working with DBES were requested to re-design the office block. He stressed that the re-designed office and six staff houses had since been approved and tender documents were being finalised.
Mr Matambo said it was expected that tenders would be called in August 2015 and tender award by October 2015. He said the contractor was expected to be on site by November 2015, and that it was planned that the project would take one year to complete.
The MP for Kgalagadi North, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi had asked the minister if he was aware of a revenue office and six staff houses at Hukuntsi that was scheduled to commence in April 2015, but had not started.
Mr Moipisi also wanted to know the delay behind that important project as well as the expected commencement and completion dates for the project.
