The Ministry of Education and Skills Development continues to address issues regarding staff accommodation through procurement and construction of additional units.
Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Moiseraele Goya said the ministry had bought an additional 479 houses including 18 units in Selibe Phikwe towards addressing the challenge.
Mr Goya said at Selibe Phikwe junior secondary and Selibe Phikwe senior secondary schools, there were 273 and 120 teachers respectively.
He said of those 393 teachers, 345 had been accommodated by government while 19 teachers were waiting to be accommodated. He explained that 31 married teachers were accommodated on sharing basis.
Selebi Phikwe West MP, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse wanted the minister to state number of teachers at Selebi Phikwe junior school and Selebi Phikwe senior secondary school accommodated by government, and those on the queue to be accommodated.
He also wanted to know the number of those who were married, but shared accommodation.
