Motlakase woes worsen

Motlakase Power Dynamos Football Club woes worsened on Saturday September 12 when visiting BDF XI defeated them 2-0 at Serowe Sports Complex. The struggling Palapye- based club only earned a point during their opening match with neighbours, Serowe- based Miscellaneous.

Though they experienced their fifth loss over the weekend, on the field of play they did well to prevent Matebele from humiliating them as the army side came with guns blazing from the first minute of the game.

On the 17th minute of the game, Patrick Kaunda made a striking run and penetrated Motlakase defense from the side. While his opponents anticipated a shot, Kaunda made a pass to Lorato Mosweu who unleashed a cracker to put one behind Siamang Kgosipule. Some few minutes later, Kgosipule denied Keeagile Kobe a goal.

Motlakase tried to poach a goal but Umar Ngobi and Thabo Mosielele made speculative shots attempts.

Towards the break, Kaunda who was creative, offensive and gave no rest to Motlakase defence, executed a culling shot but the keeper was equal to the task. After recess, BDF XI’s Jimmy Zakazala, who was the first to go into the referee’s book in the first half, was booked again and sent off for a hand ball.

Motlakase tried to use the opportunity to increase their attack and on the 20th minute of the second half, Thabo Mosielele made a good attempt but Mwampule Masule denied him a goal.

Just some minutes before additional time when Motlakase were still concentrating on sniffing an equaliser, Kobe who had missed several chances earlier, redeemed himself with a goal to make it 2-0.

BDF tactician, Beston Chambeshi was happy to have gained three points away but acknowledged that it was a tough encounter. Despite the loss, Motlakase coach, Agang Mogotsi said they played well , only let down by their their decision making .

In other games played in Serowe, BR Highlanders and Nico United played to a goalless draw on Saturday. On Friday, Miscellaneous continued their unbeaten run and managed to hold visiting Extension Gunners to a goalless draw.
