MPs to Elect Speaker, Deputy Speaker [press release]

The first session of the 11th Parliament is set to resume business tomorrow (November 12) at 2pm.

Legislators are scheduled to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly as well as endorse the Vice President.

A news release from the National Assembly has stated that the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker would be in accordance with the provisions of Section 59 and 60 of the Constitution, as well as provisions of the Parliamentary Standing Order No. 4.

Meanwhile, the President will address the nation on Thursday (November 13) at 2pm at the National Assembly buildings. The public is invited to attend both events. Big plasma screens will be mounted at the Parliament grounds to cater for outside audience.
