NAN MD’s Late Elder Brother Buried in Kano


Kano: Malam Yusuf Lawal, the late elder brother of the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria, Malam Ali M. Ali, was buried on Wednesday in Kano according to Islamic rites. Lawal, aged 61, passed away on the same day following a prolonged illness at his residence in the Tudun-Wada Quarters of Nasarawa Local Government Area.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Janazah prayer was conducted at the Tudun-Wada graveyard. The ceremony was attended by the NAN MD, family members, friends, and well-wishers, including members of the media community. The burial followed the Islamic customs and took place at the Tudun-Wada cemetery.



In a brief address, Ali expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended the funeral and offered prayers for his brother’s soul. He recalled how his brother took on a fatherly role after their parents’ demise and always supported the family and relatives. Ali shared his sorrow, describing his brother as a close confidant and partner, likening their bond to that of twins. He also admired his brother’s simple and frugal lifestyle, along with his dedication to family ties.



The eldest son of the deceased, Ahmad Yusuf, paid tribute to his father, describing him as a good man who took care of his family. Ahmad mentioned that he would continue to pray for his father.



Late Yusuf is survived by his wife and six children.
