Ngwato Land Board Rewards Excellence

| January 28, 2015

Ngwato Land Board has rewarded employees who performed outstandingly in different cadres.

Marapong Sub-land Board scooped first position, whilst Letlhakane Sub-land Board scooped second position. Palapye Sub-land Board scooped the most improved land board award.

Speaking at the award ceremony in Palapye, Palapye Land Tribunal president, Mr Phetsolo Nare said this exercise was meant to motivate and inspire employees to perform better in future.

He said those who received awards had set themselves the standard and any performance below the one that earned them these prizes should get them worried. He urged those who did not receive awards to introspect and change their behaviours that might have contributed to not hitting the performance level that earned others awards.

Mr Nare further said rewards should encourage team work within the organisation, adding that there were instances where employees who did not get awards pulled down others. He said this in the process pulled down the whole organisation, adding “it is through team work that we can achieve more as individuals, teams and the organisation as a whole.”

He said it was imperative to benchmark from best performances to improve performance in that best performers should coach and mentor those lagging behind so that they achieve acceptable performance levels.

In addition, Mr Nare said awarding best performers was part of the PBRS reform which provides that good performance should be rewarded. He said for performance to be rewarded properly, there is need to develop performance contract with clear performance measures and appropriate targets.

For his part, Ngwato Land board Chairperson, Mr David Modisagape raised concern over the absence of some of the employees. He said the award ceremony was still part of the employees’ duty as such it is unacceptable of them to miss the awards for no valid reason.

Best Employee of the year award was awarded to Remmonye kgomo from Serowe sub land board whilst the Chairman’s award was given to Marapong Sub land board Chairman, Mr Chief Mothakaja.

Principal Internal Auditor, Mr Puseletso Makhala of Ngwato Main land board received Board Secretary Award whilst Mr Mothaka Silas of Palapye Sub Land board scooped the best cadre award.
