No Plans to Upgrade Mojamorago JSS

| July 14, 2015

There are no plans to upgrade Mojamorago Junior Secondary School in Selebi Phikwe to a senior secondary school.

Answering a question from the Member of Parliament for Selebi Phikwe West, the Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said Selebi Phikwe needs all the six junior secondary schools it has, to absorb learners from the eleven primary schools in the town.

He said in turn, Selebi Phikwe Senior Secondary School can absorb 21 streams of learners from these junior secondary schools, with additional space in Matshekge Hill and Mmadinare Senior Secondary Schools.

“In line with the Revised national Policy on Education of 1994 the Ministry is upgrading specific junior secondary schools into unified schools offering form one to form five. Mojamorago is not planned for such upgrade during NDP 11”, he said.

MP Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the minister if there were any plans to upgrade Mojamorago JSS to a senior secondary school and if so he had wanted the minister to state when this will likely to happen and if not, why, considering that there is only one senior secondary school in the town.
