Plans are under way to renovate the old hospital in Mahalapye into a 24-hour clinic, a male circumcision clinic, as well as an Emergency Medical Centre, says Assistant Minister of Health, Dr Alfred Madigele.

Responding to a question in Parliament, Dr Madigele said a conditional survey of the building was ongoing and was expected to be completed in February 2015. He said the survey included assessing the current condition of the building, preparation of drawings, detailed conditional survey report and presentation of the findings.

The assistant minister said other activities included the preparation of a detailed specification of refurbishment works including tender documentation to undertake refurbishment works.

Once done, he said, the tender process that will ultimately select a company to undertake the actual refurbishment works will then be initiated. MP for Mahalapye West, Mr Joseph Molefe had asked the Minister if there were any plans to renovate the old hospital at Mahalapye and if so what was the time frame for completion.
