A newly formed association, FRIDI, for Friends of the Disabled, has taken a leading role in raising funds for the Pudulogong Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind to carry their musical projects.
A press release from the organisation states that funds will be raised through a race whose proceeds will be used for the construction of the music school for the disabled at the centre.

The race will take place on November 28 and has already attracted many well-known corporates, musicians and biker such as sand master 1 000 desert race participant, Mr Mogri Mabile of team Scoot and the king of duets, BK Proctor.

According to the release, the race involves participants of all ages and ability, as well as the disabled.

Participants will be expected to run and ride with an egg on a spoon.

The race will start and finish at the new Gaborone CBD on commercial road by the iTowers. The release says as this is entirely focused on fun, and no competitive atmosphere, there are no age restriction.

Other activities of the day will include a festival, hair painting and joy ride among others.

“At friends of the disabled, we do not feel sorry for the disabled, we transform the lives of those that have lost their confidence through disability by doing the most simplest things. Our main aim is to help improve the quality of life and make a positive difference in the lives of the disabled by helping, caring, being a friend, and give practical, emotional and spiritual support,” states the release.
