Redeemer’s University Marks 20th Anniversary with Generous Distribution to Indigent Residents

Abuja: The Redeemer's University, located in Ede, Osun, distributed essential items including foodstuffs, clothing, and other goods to underprivileged residents of the local community.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the initiative, named 'Love Show Case', was a key component of the university's 20th-anniversary celebrations. During the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Shadrach Akindele, who was represented by his deputy, Prof. Peter Aderonmu, emphasized that the distribution was an embodiment of the scripture's call to demonstrate love to humanity. The program aimed to make the host community feel the warmth and inclusivity of the university's milestone anniversary.

Prof. Aderonmu highlighted the economic challenges faced by individuals at the grassroots level, pointing out that those in higher positions often overlook these struggles. He noted that reaching out to these individuals is a vital expression of Christ's love, which the university aims to uphold continually.

Prof. Olalere Adeyemi, Chairman of the Anniversary Planning Committee, remarked that the gifts were intended to provide relief to the community's indigent residents. He underscored that the university stands on the principles of teaching, research, and community service, with this event fulfilling the latter by giving back to society during their anniversary celebrations.

Mrs. Hannah Akindele, the Vice-Chancellor's wife, encouraged the recipients to keep the university in their prayers for its continued progress. Beneficiaries such as Opeyemi Ibrahim and Ajibola Kareem expressed their gratitude, with Ibrahim noting that the items received would significantly help meet his needs, while Kareem urged other institutions to emulate the university's benevolent act.

The News Agency of Nigeria also reported that the distributed items ranged from food and clothing to shoes, sanitary pads, and electronic gadgets. Beneficiaries were assigned numbers to select items, and some electronic gadgets were distributed through a raffle draw, including washing machines, freezers, and mobile phones.
