Rep Member Secures N1.7 Billion Projects for Ibiono Ibom/Itu Constituency


Uyo: Mr. Ime Okon, the representative of Ibiono Ibom/Itu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, has announced the successful attraction of projects valued at N1.7 billion to his constituency over the past two years. During a briefing with journalists in Uyo, Okon highlighted his midterm achievements, emphasizing that he has directly empowered over 800 constituents alongside these projects.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Okon outlined several key projects he has facilitated, including the construction of six classroom blocks at Technical School, Ayadehe, and four classroom blocks at PCN Primary School, North Itam, Itu Local Government Area. Additionally, he has overseen the construction of a 1.5km road on Joshua Uwah Street, the installation of solar-powered streetlights, and the development of a drainage system in Mbak Itam III, Itu.



Further projects include the establishment of an ultra-modern, 450-capacity Civic Centre in Idoro and a 1000-capacity Civic Centre in Nkwa, Ibiono Ibom. Okon has also been active in legislative duties, sponsoring bills and motions such as the bill to create the Metallurgical and Material Engineers and Scientist Registration Board of Nigeria and advocating for the rehabilitation of the Calabar-Itu-Ikot Ekpene Road.



As the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Inter-Governmental Affairs, Okon emphasized his engagement in numerous oversight activities and clarified that N1 billion has been allocated for 2025 constituency projects. These projects will be executed by the relevant ministries, departments, and agencies, as legislators do not receive funds directly for project implementation.
