Sunday standard senior reporter Edgar Tsimane has been granted asylum by the South African government after he fled Botswana in fear of his safety.

Tsimane fled to South Africa fearing for his life after security agents reportedly harassed him for writing a series stories about the Executive arm of Government.

Sunday Standard lawyer Dick Bayford confirmed that Tsimane has been accredited to continue his journalistic work and is on duty as we speak covering the Oscar Pistorius trial.

MISA Botswana commends the South African government for hastening the processing of Tsimane’s residential and work status, and hope that his security and welfare will be not be compromised.
