TCN Restores Electricity to Northeastern States

Abuja: The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the successful restoration of normal bulk electricity supply to the Northeastern part of the country. This development follows the reconnection of the 330kV and 132kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe transmission lines.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN's General Manager of Public Affairs, explained that the lines were initially switched off to facilitate the energization of the new Bauchi Substation. This substation is noted as one of the largest in the region and has been integrated into the national grid.

Mbah confirmed that the transmission lines were reconnected to the grid, restoring power supply to the Northeast since June 19 at approximately 4:45 pm. The completion of this project has ensured that bulk power transmission is now available to Jos and Yola Electricity Distribution Companies. These companies are responsible for supplying electricity to customers in Bauchi, Gombe, Yobe, Damaturu, Adamawa, and Taraba States.

The connection of the new substation to the national grid has enhanced power reliability, diversified transmission routes, and improved emergency response capabilities in the Northeastern region. Mbah also expressed TCN's gratitude for the patience and support demonstrated by the affected customers during the outage.
